Buggerru

Some of the wildest stretches of coast in the whole of the Island are to be found near the village. To the south it opens high and steep onto the Cala Domestica bay, one of the most beautiful in Sardinia, sheltered at the end of a rocky fiord and watched over by a Spanish tower. A long time ago the ores extracted at Montecani, above Masua used to be loaded onto ships on the little beach. The coast as far as Capo Pecora is low and sandy, sheltered by high dunes. The port is surmounted by the exit of the 'Galleria Henry' (Tunnel) where once a steam train used to run, carrying the ores from the nearby mines. A visit here today is a chance to observe the place where the miners worked and in various points to view incredible panoramas of the sea and cliffs.
